I.C.E. in New Jersey

In late 2020, local activists from northern New Jersey began protesting outside the Bergen County Jail standing in solidarity with a group of ICE Detainees on a hungerstrike protesting the henoius living conditions inside the facility. Allegedly, heat had been turned off in December, the only drinkinable water was toilet water, and a rat infestation. The protests reoccured daily and the Bergen County Sherrif Department have increasingly built perimeters and fenced off the property. Similar allegations have been made about the living conditions in early 2021.
